General Information:

The Metro Building Inspectors Association has served the greater Grand Rapids area since 1963.  The first meeting was held on August 29, 1963, with Robert Boelens, City of Grand Rapids Director of Inspections, serving as our first president. The association was known at that time as Inspectional Services Conference of Western Michigan. Our membership consists primarily of building code enforcement officials and associates having a common interest in our association’s purposes.  We have over 100 members who currently represent jurisdictions south of Cadillac, north of Kalamazoo, and from the middle of the State to Lake Michigan.

An important function of our association is to provide continuing education as required by the State of Michigan under Public Act 54.  Our monthly meetings consist primarily of educational classes for that purpose (with a hearty lunch) and are generally held on the morning of the second Thursday of each month with the exception of conference seminars held in February (or March) of each year.  For more information about our membership, please click on the menu item called “membership.”
